Tui Na Massage

Tui Na.jpeg

" There are massages and massages, but one from Mark is in a class of its own. I usually wait until my problems (aches and pains) have got to a pretty bad state before I book an appointment; each time I  seriously doubt whether one treatment could make much of an impact, but I am yet to be disappointed - each time Mark does his magic, kneads out all the tensions and stiffness, and I leave feeling a new person, supple and relaxed. Over the last couple of years Mark’s treatments have been invaluable in helping me maintain good health and speeding up my recovery from polymyalgia".

Tui Na (pronounced `twee nah') means "push and grasp". It is an ancient healing art of traditional chinese medicine (together with acupuncture, herbal medicine and Chi Kung) and is over 4,000 years old.

Tui Na works on energy channels and acu-points as in acupuncture, but uses the body instead of needles, to generate and balance the flow of energy (chi).

In China it is used in hospitals as a medical massage to treat most common ailments. Tui Na provides complete stimulation of the body's entire musculo-skeletal system, as well as all the internal organs.

Tui Na uses a wide variety of techniques, many of these being quite vigorous, robust and unique, contrasting with also slow movements and lighter pressure on the acupoints and meridians.
